Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Tsunamis, Oh my!

Dear Audience,

       Earthquakes

Earthquakes are very dangerous. Earthquakes are caused by Tectonic plates under the land. Tectonic plates are large rocks under the land that is what the land sits on. When Tectonic plates slide, the pressure causes the plates to release the pressure. The plates break, causing the earth to shake, shift, or buckle.

Earthquakes change the surface of the Earth in many ways. It can separate the ground, it can create Mountains, and it can create Volcanoes. It can also push the ground together. Mountains that already exist rise up and get bigger.

People study earthquakes for many reasons. They study it so they can figure out how much the difference between the earthquakes and how much stronger they are getting. They also study it to figure out how it is happening. It happens because tectonic plates overlap or push together.

The damage caused by earthquakes are very dangerous. It causes building to catch fire because of the wires for electricity in the building break. It also causes tsunamis. Scientists use a seismograph and a Richter Scale to measure an earth quake. There can be size earthquakes like a 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and so on. The bigger the number the more damage there is.

It is important that people learn more about Earthquakes for many reasons. People study it so they know what to expect. They are designing building that can withstand an Earthquakes.

Earthquakes most likely occur in places where tectonic plates meet. Tectonic plates crash or slide into each other causing the Earthquakes. California is one place where two plates meet. It is called The San Andreas Fault. Another place is The Atotsugawa Fault in Japan.

Tsunamis are related to Earthquakes because Earthquakes cause the Tsunami. Tsunamis Are huge waves that form in the ocean when the Earthquake occurs. The wave grows bigger and bigger the closer it comes to the land. When the wave hits land it wipes buildings of the foundation.

Earthquakes and Tsunamis are very dangerous. If you live near a place where one has occurred, then have something ready with food and water and always be ready to go to high land( Not a building).

Volcanoes

Volcanoes are very dangerous. Volcanoes are openings in the Earth's crust where magma and gasses rise. The eruption of the volcano depends on how the tectonic plates interact, How thick the magma is, and the amount of gas trapped underground. Some eruptions are explosive and some are gentle.

  1. You did really well on the paragraph and making spaces to let the readers know what they are about.
